Sandrine is deaf and hard of hearing.
In addition to this disability, Sandrine has had spina bifida occulta since birth.
The pain of this disease and its consequences make life even more difficult for Sandrine, who has kept all the heaviness of this physical and psychological suffering inside her.
She contacted ZED, the production company behind ‘L'œil et la main’, a television programme for the deaf and hard of hearing broadcast on FRANCE 5, while working with a shrink.
Professionally, it's the first time I've done a voice over for someone who can't speak. It's a very specialised and precise way of working, very faithful and respectful in the transcription of the person's speech, and very subtle in the performance.
On a human level, I was very touched by Sandrine's story, and I must admit that I was particularly emotionally involved in being her spokesperson.
That day I realised why life had given me my beautiful voice: to make Sandrine's voice heard. And, I hope, for other women too.
That's what NLP calls a ‘life mission’. We all have one.
For the anecdote, I let Sandrine know that I was particularly touched by her story, that I put my heart into my voice over translation work, that I supported her and that I was passing on my friendship.
In return, Sandrine asked the production team for my photo to see what her voice sounded like. Her own way of hearing it.
